When I upgraded my 7100 to the latest os (.300) from the Hong Kong carrier I used your instructions. Of course I changed what file I unzipped the .alx file to. I replaced the 8700 file with the appropriate 7100 file. Is that step necessary or can you just delete the vendor file and skip that step when updating a 7100. What exactly does that step do? The renaming of the file to .old and then unzipping the file in step 7.

I think I answered my own question. Good thing since super mod seattle dude didn't. I reinstalled the os without renaming and unzipping and all that and didn't have all of the themes. Changed it back....love that vodafone theme.

Does anyone know why the 7100 is slower with this newest os. Sometimes now when opening settings from the home screen the hourglass will pop up for about 5 seconds. Never did that before. It also popped up while opening messages. Never had before. Is it possible that the more complex the software becomes the more of a strain it puts on the hardware? Any of you smart fellows have an opinion on that?

7100 may not have the raw power needed for the new themes. I never liked my 7100 that much.

That's kinda what I was thinking. The hardware is designed to only do so much and the newer os stresses it to the max. Where it really slows it down is when you are changing from one theme to another. I have found a way to ensure that all the apps. open quickly when I need them. I've quit using the back button to close them, I just click the end button, which apparantly doesn't close but minimizes it. (windows-speak. Will that affect my batt. life?

Theme changes require more horsepower. If the apps switch ok, then go with it.
