Default Echo issues with 8700

Please Login to Remove!

I am using an 8700 on the Cingular network. Recently I've had several people complain that they hear an echo when they speak with me. I don't hear it on my end. Have any of you had this issue with your 8700? Do you think this is just a network issue?

I have had the same problem. It occurs when I am using the speaker phone or when i am using the bluetooth functionality in my car.

I had this same issue with verizon. It did not matter if it was treo or blackberry. Finally, I turned the volume down and it went away. Only if the volume was turned up, occasional echo.
Since I switched to Tmobile, I have not had any more echoing.

I was having that problem tonight. My fiance said she heard an echo that I could not hear. She called from her Treo but since I owned a SE k700i until this weekend, it would have to be the Blackberry since we've never had the echo issue before.

I'll try to lower the volume next time and see if that has an impact...

I have this problem too. I just realized that it was actually my phone causing this. Luckily it is within the 30 days.

I've had one person complain about this. It seems that if I use the speakerphone or the little earbud it goes away for the other person.

I exchanged it but I still have the same problem. It only happens to some people I talk to. When I turn down the volume, the echo goes away.

The echo is caused by your microphone picking up the other caller's voice from your earpiece. This can vary based on the connection, the frequency of the caller's voice, the way you hold your bb, etc... On calls where the caller is loud, simply turn down the volume.

I have had this problem with certain callers with my 7290, 8700, treo and other phones. The bb is more prone due to the shape (no bend) and the closeness of the microphone to the earpiece.

hth... Rich

There is a feature that is on the blackberry, which is still on the nightstand <runs to get blackberrys, yes two because I'm carrying my girlfriends around till I can give it to her> if you're having the problem with echo on a bluetooth device goto Options>Bluetooth>Device Properties>Echo Control, Turn that on.
