Exclamation 7100v won't switch on. please help..!

Please Login to Remove!

I hope somone can help, I have a 7100v that switched itself off during a conversation 2 days ago and will not switch itself back on again. I have tried leaving the battery out for several lengths of time..from 30 seconds up to 12 hours, but all that is happening once I put the battery back in is the red led light double flashes every few seconds. This happens with the battery in and with the charging cable in and separately. I have tried connecting it to the desktop manager but it does not recognise the USB connection. I have been told that I could possibly do a reset through the desktop manager software, by gong through application loader but I presume that this would clear the handset, I don't really want to do this as I have so much information on there relating to my business and my diary for the next 2 months. Is there any way if retrieving this information? Thanks in advance.

If you have a backup you can restore your data after you reset the software. If you dont then obviously you will loose it but the alternative to this whole thing is what, turn the blackberry into a paperweight? I do not think yu want to do that, so the thing is what is more important to you, leaving it as it is or bitting the bullet and restoring it?

yeah, I guessed that may be the case, unfortunately I have never linked the BB to the computer so have no back up copies, I was just kind of hoping that there may be a solution where you can get the info off the BB before wiping clean and restoring the software...also if I do restore the software what happens to all the settings, service books etc etc?

Default Same issue here with 7290

Hi, just a quick question. Have you managed to do a restore of the device software?

My blackberry 7290 is in the same state, a double red LED flash every few seconds and the screen is blank. I have tried to re-download the 4.1 release of the software but it does not seem to be able to talk to the blackberry in this state. I beleve that what ever has happened, the double red LED flash means that the very low level firmware or bootloader in the blackberry is in a state that cannot be recovered.

Does any one know what the double red LED flash means?

I answer to your last question. When I changed the device software when my blackberry was working, it wipes all the service books, settings and everything else on the device. The only way to restore them is to be able to do a device backup and restore. If you cannot do a backup using the desktop software, then the information on your blackberry is gone. I would sugest that you contact your supplyer if it is still under waranty, they may be able to extract the data from the blackberry by some other method.

I had the same issue yesterday too. First the screen was white and it said 'catastropic... reset' and then when i tried to connect it to the pc, screen went black and i got the red flashes.
My solution was to send it off for a replacement.
