I did a search and could not find anything - I have full bars and in EDGE service and yet I cannot make any calls out at all - just gives me beeps and briefly flashes "Radio Path Unavailable"

What the heck does this mean? I swear, before I upgraded to the 8700, I had 1-2 issues with my 7100g. Now I have had to pull the battery twice already in less than a month and it seems very unstable.

Any thoughts?

Sounds network related.......Have you tried calling CS?

yep - thanks. After 45 monutes on hold, they said they are updating towers to UMTS and therefore we all have limited data until they are done in my area. Now if only my 8700 could use UMTS ;) Either way, I understand, it just stinks that for 3-4+ hours, I can't get data or even make a phone call.

You know...this has been going on alot lately (there is another thread on the rant on this site) and I really do think it is only fair that Cingular or whoever should comp some minutes or SMS or something for these 'outages'. They may be scheduled for them...but not for us!

I agree - now they told me my BB is getting stuck on a tower that is having work and that's why it is now staying in edge vs. EDGE. But I just did a soft reset and it went back into EDGE and delivered my email. This really stinks. Now it has been 24 hours of inconsistent behavior.

I do network ops for a Wireless provider. i get the same problem. IT's not a network issue. If you hold a BB and another phone side by side and place simultaneous calls to the same number, the BB fails the other one doesn't. The cell was not congested, 20% full. Try re-installing the os on the handset and then swapping devices if it didn't fix it.

I was recently having the same error frequently with T mob, spoke to their BB dept. and they did say that it was not the service but the device. they suggested reloading the OS, i did, and so far no more "radio path unavailable" message. however, this was only 2 days ago and i've been out of town for those two days.
