When I first received my 7100T a few months ago the battery would last for days at a time. However, now this is not the case. My battery does not even last 24 hrs, if that. I can hear my speaker phone constantly buzzing and making noise, draining the battery I believe.

What should I do to fix this problem. I wont be able to be at a cingular store untill this weekend due to a busy week. Should i try reformatting / refreshing the blackberry? The only change I have made is I installed a program called , Free News! which does not even work, nor can I remove it via Desktop manager or in phone. I would like to get rid of this program ASAP.

Suggestions / Thoughts on the problem?

So you have a 7100t on Cingular? Anyway I had this problem and so have others on this forum if you do a search. Don't know if anyone has ever found an answer but here are some things to try. I think that the problem is related to the use of speaker phone.

* Shut down the phone, remove the battery, wait, reinsert batter and wait for the reboot. Check to see if the noise is gone.

* Make a phone call in normal mode, switch to speaker phone, then back to normal mode and cancel the call.

* Upgrade the software. If you really have a Cingular 7100g then download the latest software from Cingular. If instead you have a T-Mobile 7100t then go to the T-Mobile site. Or just go to the RIM Software subforum and upgrade to HK CSL and get the latest and greatest.

I bought an unlocked 7100T (with T-mobile stickers) online and I am currently on the Cingular network.

Which software should i Download the T-mobile because of the phone mobile or Cingular because of the network? I am not sure after reading your last statement.

If you are still having trouble, you could simply do a wipe of the phone firmware and then reload the TMO varient onto the phone. This won't affect the unlock status because once it is unlocked it is that way even after a wipe and reload. The only reason I say use the TMO version is that you will have to play around with the Vendor.xml file to get the Cingular version to work.
