Default How do I Switch EVERYTHING from one 8700 to another

Please Login to Remove!

I have a refeurbished 8700 on the way to me from Cingular to replace my current 8700 with a cracked screen.

I know how to swap out addresses etc but I want my new 8700 to have all the things my current one does. That includes pictures, games and lots of things I am not thinking of.

Is there a way to just swap EVERYTHING over to the new one. I will probably have to reload Bharti and that is OK but I do not want to miss anything if there is a simple way to just duplicate everything and push it over to the new 8700.

I would probably also need to wipe the old one clean and reinstall the original OS before sending it back to Cingular.

Search did not produce anything to completely swap out everything onto a new unit.

Thanks for any help.

Go into the Desktop Manager...do a backup...should get 'most' of your stuff. I know for a fact it does tones, images, mail of course, settings...I did have to re-install google talk...but that was it.

Thanks for the reply Justin, that was the step I was aware of. I guess I am looking for a ALL In ONE move that would assure me I am getting everything.

Also, anybody know where the uninstal Bharti- reinstall Cingular OS section is? I have lost track of that whole thread. Or do I just install the Cingular OS from the website and it will go on top of the Bharti. This is for the 8700 I am returning obviously. This might be a good question for JIBI.

Anybody have a good trick for me to use to swap all my stuff from one to the other?

Nope; unfortunately backup/restore does not bring over any applications that were loaded over the air.

You are probably going to have to reload some stuff.

OK, I have everything I think I need on the new 8700 but I have a problem....

I have spent an hour and a half trying to figure out how to Wipe the Bharti off the old 8700.
I have read all the guides by Mark, done searches, loaded Javaloader- nothing is working.

Is there a simple way to get Bharti off and reinstall the Cingular OS?

Believe me, I have tried to do it thru searching- I am stuck and am looking for help. I do not want to send this thing back with Bharti installed.

Can you not download the Cingular OS and load it to the unit?

Yes but how do I get Bharti off and Cingular on. I have already DL'd the Cingular OS from the site in Mark's OS tip page. I can't get Bharti off.

Thanks DC/DC

Exicute the Cingular Download and delete the vendor.xml file oin the programs/common/rim/application_loader folder. Not sure about the exact pathname here but it'something like that. Then connect the BB to the PC and start the Desktop Manager and start the app loader. It should tell you that you're trying to load an older version and ask if you want to continue. Select Yes.

Hope this helps.
