First I'd like to say this is my first post here so I hope I'm asking it in the right part of the forum.

I have a blackberry 7290 from my employer. This blackberry is from cingular and has a phone number that was assigned to it(sticker on the box), even though we are on data only plan. The only thing I can do is send SMS msgs to this phone number and they DO get delivered to the BB. However when viewing the home screen it shows "My network" where the name of the carrier is usually seen. Also when the phone app is launched and under the field called "my phone number" it shows "Unknown".
In options->network it shows "cingular".
I'm almost positive this is cingular blue because I have to use cingular blue APN settings in order for TCP to work.

Here is the odd part.

People at my company had the same thing on their BBs when they were first issued, meaning it said "My network" and phone number was "unknown", however few days later it has changed. While in my cases it hasn't. I'm very curious why? how? when?

I know for those who's number and network name got updated, they can now send MMS messages and reply to SMSs, while I cannot. Even if I select delivery method GPRS or GSM.

If know you anything, please shime some light on this.

Scroll to the Options icon and press Select (to select push the trackwheel in).
Scroll to Host Routing Table and press Select.


The HTR Editor screen will display.


Click the trackwheel, select Register Now.


Verify a registration message has been received in the Messages inbox

I've done this dozen of times.
Now what's funny, just now I have checked options->network and it says Network is "My network' cingular has disapeared from here too.

WOW... it was just here 5 minutes ago.

Also,
I just did manual scan for networks and it finds two networks
both called My network.

Checked out both links, did what it said to do in 2nd link and it said "Denied access to SIM"...

Too bad I cannot call the carrier and ask them reprogram it.
