Default Two message icons

Please Login to Remove!

I have searched and was not able to find any information about this topic, but a weird thing happened today.

First, I have an unlocked Cingular 8700, on T-Mobile with Blackberry service added.

Today, a new icon appeared that looks like the plain message icon (envelope with yellow postage), except this one has a green arrow down and blue postage. The same messages that appear within the original message icon also appear within the new message icon. The only difference I noticed is NO SMS messages show up with the messages of the new message icon.

Does anyone out there know where the second message icon came from?
Do I really need it?
Can I get rid of it any other way then just hiding the icon?

Thanks for any help!
