Default Handango Problems

Please Login to Remove!

Several days ago I purchased the Minuet browser on Handango for my 8700c. The system would not let me download the program. I have written Handango 3 times asking for help. Not a peep. Sheesh.

I also had a problem getting the Mobile Sudoku I purchased there to operate. It did download (and in this case the tech support directly from the 3rd party software app was excellent) but we could not get it working despite heroic efforts.

I have also messaged Handango about that.

Again no response.

This is like my ex-wife. I just keep paying without even an acknowledgment...

I have never had a problem when downloading from Handango but I saw that they were offering Download Protection for an extra $5 which I always declined. Maybe that is their routine: they fail to deliver and unless you paid them for protection it's your loss...
Fight this!
Also please let us know how the Minuet Browser works when you get it resolved.

I have had issues with them before.

Paid for a product but NEVER received my code from the developer. Never got response from e-mails to their support group either.

I called their offce and eventually got a live person on the line.

Either way I wouldn't expect a response until Monday at the earliest.

I've purchased many things through Handango and never had any major issues. They have been responsive to the few issues that I have had.

I've never had any issues with Handango. I've always gotten great customer support from them and from the app developers also. I shop there quite often.

The support from PocketDay (Cross River Systems) is incredibly good. Magmic has been excellent too.

Handango is the worst.
I will never order from them again.
They are impossible to work with.

Earlier today (Sunday) I did receive two emails from Handango support. Regarding the inability to download the Minuet browser, I was told that they had re-set the system and I should try again. I did and it downloaded. Either later today or tomorrow I will try to install it on my BB.

Regarding the Mobile Sudoku, another message said it had been referred to the "Developer."

I will keep you posted.

The Minuet zip file downloaded and installed successfully onto my BB 8700c. At that point, however, I ran into the same kind of error or trouble that I had with the Mobile Sudoku.

Basically, there appears to be some kind of configuration problem. I have set the TCP-APN to isp.cingular, the username to [email address] and the password to CINGULAR1. This is all standard stuff.

No help. Still the same error message. I even used the alternate APN settings, with the same result.

I spent a few days going back and forth with the tech support people at Mobile Sudoku when it occurred and they could not figure out why it was not working.

So I am not sure what to do from here.

Unfortunately, many users have told me that they needed to call Cingular even with the correct APN settings. It appears Cingular disable access to the HTTP gateway by default, but the change is quite easy and usually free (depending on your data plan.) You just have to call them.

I have solved both the Mobile Sudoku and Minuet Browser problems on the 8700c. That's the good news. The bad news is that I am not that happy with the solution.

It was basically a question of the proper data feature with Cingular. And while it is convenient to criticize Cingular for charging for this data feature, I am more than just a little surprised about the lack of communication and knowledge by Handango. This is something that Handango not only should have known, but should have told people in the description before the purchase was made. This tells me that the 8700c was not tested by them before the products were offered.

Within the next few days I will post my impressions of both the Mobile Sudoku program and the Minuet Browser as they operate on my 8700c.
