Default Here's an 8700r glitch for you

Please Login to Remove!

I'm part of an established real estate team, with two of us having 8700r's on hosted Exchange and BES.

I'm the unofficial tech expert for the team so the other team member brought her 8700r to me last week when the ringer volume was suddenly very low, regardless of profile settings etc. -- she was missing calls all day long.

I'll spare you the details of the trouble shooting I went through, suffice to say I tried everything I could think of. Two hours of trouble shooting with Rogers on the phone and they had no clue, even after a complete OS re-install. In the end they couriered out a new 8700 the next day and all was well.

Today my 8700 started with the same deal: Regardless of profile settings etc., when you called the phone the ringer volume was next to zero. I've finally just figured out that if you use the speaker phone, and happen to turn the volume way down, then hang up, the ringer volume will now be relative to the volume you last used on the speaker phone.

Just wanted to make everyone aware of the issue. FWIW, I haven't tried updating the OS on my 8700 to see if this issue has been addressed with firmware/software etc only b/c it's the long w/end and my BES admin won't be available till Tuesday to reactivate the BES after doing so, I need my BB for work.

Apologies if this has already been addressed in the forums, I did a quick search and didn't come accross anything.

Cheers, SF

I had a Mitac Mio 8380 that did that same exact thing. Sounds like it should be a simple thing to fix with a firmware revision.

This has been discussed several times in several posts and threads. Please utilize the search feature in the future before posting. Also, the Bharti OS, which contains the Zen theme, fixed that bug. So you can install the Zen theme and get rid of the bug if you like. The link to get Zen is in my signature.

I never had the problem of my volume being too low, but since I went Zen, my lowest ringtone is too loud.
I need to find a way to decrease it. I need a quieter ringer for my tasks, and alarm which I utilize 24/7 due to my job. The current volume, even on low, startles my wife in the middle of the night..
Yes, I am doing searches... that's how I found this thread!
