Default SMS Texts on 8700

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I've just got an 8700 (in the UK, via Vodafone)... a couple of questions about SMS Texts...

- is there any way of archiving SMS texts off the BlackBerry (i.e. transfer them onto my PC)?

- are there any recommended ways of cutting SMS text costs - my tariff charges me 5p per text and was wondering if there are any email to text gateway services, or other tricks that anyone knows of?

Thanks for any help...

Peter

I'm not sure whether this works with blackberry, but it's worth looking into:

hotxt.co.uk

I read about it in a recent issue of the Economist.

This looks interesting. For those of us without the ability to get unlimited SMS- (ie: those on rogers) this might be perfect as it looks as though it goes through the data connection.

It's free for the first 2 weeks. ANyone want to do a review?

This isn't a direct answer to the original question, but BES 4.1 allows for the logging of SMS and PIN messages. Perhaps your answer lies somewhere within that capability?

SMS is backed up when you do a backup of your device on the PC...

5p isn't that much mate, you've already afforded the BlackBerry... LOL

I saw someone else on this forum say copy and paste the text into an email and send it to yourself on a pc.

That is also an option, but an arduous one.
