Default Switching from 8700c to 8700g

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I'm new here, but have been lurking for a while. I searched but could not find an answer to this.

I had an 8700c, unlocked expertly by Adam at GSMPhonesource, running on T-Mobile since they came out. Both BES and BIS.

Got an 8700g because I got a bunch for work. Moved the SIM card over fine; BES e-mail is fine. Browser, apps, everything fine.

Except....

I went to the T-Mobile web site to try and switch the PIN for my T-Mobile BIS e-mail account. It asked if I wanted to switch from pin "old" to pin "new". I clicked Yes.

Got a message that only a web programmer would love:

Handheld Change Failed. Unknown Error.

Same error message occurs when I try it from the "Set up Internet E-Mail" icon on the BB.

Woked with our local T-Mobile SE team. No joy. Sent over an hour of the phone with Customer Care. No clue.

Any thoughts? I swear I did search before posting

ROFLMAO!!! Actually, it's good that you brought this up because I haven't had time to switch from the -c to -g yet and it appears that that was a smart decision since I'm waiting on some important emails this weekend.

The only thing I can think of to add is, maybe you should have TMO AWG or CC completely remove blackberry service from your account and then start over with the PIN for the new -g and maybe that will clear this mysterious error.

My guess is that RIM has not loaded the new 8700g PINs into the BIS yet and that's the problem... But it's just a guess.

The answer is: You don't need a 8700g if you have an 8700c. Sell the g to me!

I have a solution. Take your "c" and draw a "j" on the right side of it. Now you have a working "g".

I read that wrong LOL I have seen that before. I have also seen it ask me to switch from my new BB (7105t) to my old BB (7100t). This happened (a few dozen times) before I realized I needed to re-register my 7100t on the network because I want to keep it fully functional as a backup for when my 7105t is not working.

So...
let me get this straight you swear that the 8700c is the holy grail of all Blackberries, or handheld for that matter, ever made,
influence innocent saps like me to buy one and pay money to unlock it for our T-Mobile cards,
then you tell us a month ago that the 8700g wasn't anything worth getting excited
about with respect to the 8700c,
then you guys ban me for 2 weeks because
I disagreed with one of the mods on the 8700c
being the best thing since slice bread,

and now....you start a thread about switching
from the 8700c to the 8700g....

wow,
just wow...

BTW...I get my 8700g monday and will not have that problem...
good luck with that.

Hey delmarco - did I ask your opinion? I asked if anyone had seen this problem before. Buzz off.

BTW - Tallahasse is spelled Tallahassee. Check your location.

Wow, just wow.

"Woke up this morning... got yourself a gun"

Speaking of which, Tony is a busy man. Wonder why he doesn't have an 8700 yet? Seems like that's something Christopher could help him set up.

I think they'd be concerned about it begin tracked. You don't see them using e-mail much

Wonder if Barone's Carting has a BES? Tony could get a BB through them, along with his W-2.
