I just got this Blackberry from work, they were going to throw it to the bin, it´s been like a year or even more in a drawer, but I got it just before that
The problem, is O2, and I have an O2 contract, but I cannot make it work totally....
I have updated it to the 4.1 OS, and I can make and receive calls, and also SMS, but I want to use it also as my other last mobiles phones to browse internet, and be charged to my O2 contract as normal...
I dont know if this is possible, or I´m forced to buy the Blackberry services that cost an extra 15 pounds more a month....
I just want to browse internet as I did before with this contract SIM card in my other mobile phones, I suppose via WAP, but in this device I cannot make it work...
Any help on this will be great, I´ve been trying to put in the TCP options, with the config from O2 that I have in my other mobiles, but it wont work...

Hi and welcome.

Unfortunately there is no way to get around paying the extra fee for the BlackBerry Data Plan. No BlackBerry Data Plan - no Internet (and no e-mail too).

Without the BlackBerry Data Plan, as you've seen, all you get is voice and SMS.

Well, thanks for the prompt answer.
So, I cannot believe I cant use this phone like any other mobile phone.... I´ve been reading and it seems people can use it after they close their data plans, because they keep the browser config or something....
I supposed that if I can make calls the use of WAP should be the same at the end, is just a phone number via IP?
And what is it that it locks this phone from using it as any other phone? any registry tweak to make it work as normal?

Because it's not a phone. It's a BlackBerry. It IS different and you can not use it like any other phone... They were very, very smart (RIM); if you just want to use the Internet, you need to subscribe to the plan...

Well, I have downloaded the 3.7 from the link u gave me, installed on my pc, but once I launch the Desktop Manager and try the Application Loader, there is no way to do so....do u know whats wrong?
It just wont find any upgrade for the Blackberry....

Locate and delete "vendor.xml" on your PC hard drive, then restart Desktop Manager. It should ask if you want to downgrade your BB.

Well, I have installed now the 3.7 OS, thanks for explain it to me
Now, Ixxx180;ve been trying to send me the service books from the email I have with O2 on internet, that I created for the Blackberry specifically 3 days ago, but I dont receive anything in the handheld.
I also tried to register from the HRT option in the Blackberry, but I dont receive anything either...
There is a couple of things I dont understand in this BB, the option Firewall is enabled, and I cannot change it at all, and the option Message Services is empty....
