Default Backlight Question

Please Login to Remove!

The old 7290s had a button which allows the user to press once for a dimmer backlight and press twice for a brighter backlight.

Does the 8700c offer this same option?

I have noticed that there are two levels of backlighting and sometimes the screen is brighter and sometimes it is dimmer. It is quite annoying because it happens rather randomly. I noticed that when it is running on the dimmer setting, once I press the Enter button, it brightens up to the brighter setting.

Any thoughts on how this back light system thinks and works and if I can manually set or adjust it?

Thanks.

The 8700 has an auto backlight that sense the light conditions and that is why it changes like that. If you want to go full then just a quick press of the power buttton envokes full backlight and with each press it cycles as follows: (assuming that it is in DIM mode) it goes to high screen off, auto then high and the loop continues.

Yes, it has a similar two stage backlighting. On the top left (literally on the top of the 8700) is a button. Press it. Get used to the dimming - not sure if there are any adjustments you can make.

Yep. This also leaves the keyboard backlight on at all times. Expect to burn a lot of juice.
Note that you can still use the Power button to boost the screen to full from your chosen setting.
