Cool New 8700 "More available" problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

Just got my new T Mobile 8700 going on our BES. When I view a message the body reads "more available" and I have to click the wheel and click "More All" to get the body of the message. My 7100t didn't do this so I'm posting in this forum first.

I checked my messages, options menu and auto more is on. Any ideas?

Thanks.

That generally occurs when the message is very long. Does this occur on every message?

Yes this is part of the 8700 9so it seemd) it loads part of the message and if you want to see more then it loads another part (I wish I knew the size of each part) but that seems to be there to give the healine of the message and if you want to continue it then does the rest. At lease that was the explanation that was given to me by the Blackberry rep at teh Cingular Store by me.

Under Messages, Options, General Options, make sure that Auto More is set to Yes. If so, it shouldn't be necessary to click to get the rest of your message. Just scrolling down should do it.

Hmm. For me on every message I have opened, short ones and long ones, the first line of the body is blank and the second line says More Available. So to view any of the message body I have to do a get more.

On my 7100 it would only do it on very very long messages. What is happening now is not normal.

So the rep told you it was normal for the 8700? Wonder if it has to do with the NTP settlement workaround software change.

Either way, it's driving me crazy!!

It does not do that with mine (at least with BIS) the NTP settlement did not force any changes on RIM and it was bsuiness as usual.

That is definitely not normal. I receive very long emails (for example, Yahoo Alerts) and I almost never see the More Available message. It all downloads at the beginning. At least on the Rogers network...

I think I figured it out. Seems my previous messages from my BES account had only the headers downloaded to it, while new messages since then have the body that comes in as normal.

Can anyone on BES confirm?

Thanks for the help, all!

I have the same thing with my 7105t on BIS if the email is too long.

Sometimes if the mail is long and I open it quickly (before it auto mores -- for lack of a better term) I get the "MORE" option.

I have noticed that after a restore or Enterprise Activation I often have several messages that are headers only with a message to "More"...

This occurred for the first few 8700c's that our users got. Turns out the problem was that when we were setting them up on our BES, our SOP is to wipe the device and use the generic BB 4.1 software that is loaded on our BES. A call to BB said that was because we HAVE to use the Cingular version of the software. A wipe and reinstall with the Cingular bundled version cleared up the problem right away.

I assume the same for the 8700g, but we haven't seen them yet.

When you first set up the BB your mail that is sync'd from the desktop will bring HEADERS ONLY to the blackberry and you use "More" to get the rest as needed.

From that point on you will get message bodies up to a point. Once the size limit is reached for a particular message you use "More to get the rest.

This is beacuse BB figures that mail sync'd initially when the BB is received has already been read and no need to store the message text unless asked for.
