New 8700g comment and question Just picked up my T-Mobile 8700g. So far so good. Much better than my old 7100t IMHO. One thing I really don't understand is that BlackBerry's are widely thought of as business phones yet there isn't a single "professional" sounding ring tone pre installed in this phone (Same for the 7100t I had before). It would be embarassing to be in a meeting and forget to set the phone to vibrate and have some silly digital song start playing as your ringtone. Does anyone know were to easily download some standard digital ringers for the BlackBerry? Also, does anyone have experience with eOffice softwear for BB? If so, what's your opinion? Worth the investment? Thanks all. |
Check out the Ringtones, Themes, and Wallpapers Discussion forum. You should be able to find something you like there. |
What does a professional ringtone sound like? I am not embarassed when mine goes off around my law firm or other lawyers, and I use the Classic Phone. The Bonjour is okay too, for business purposes. |
I use trance music!! Just kidding. I'm actually not quite sure what my current ringtone is because I've been on vibrate for a few days. |
I agree with mark5lam, I was dissapointed that the ringers that were on the 7230/7290 are not here, the 'hotel' is what I use but some of those other ringers are very non-professional. Word! |
Mark, I am so with you, man. While having music tones on the phone is cool, I'm one of those weirdos that prefers his phone to sound like a phone when it rings. I use "classic phone", but would prefer the ring from my old 7290 that I used...whatever that was. I've checked the Ringers forum, and everyone there seems into music tones. I couldn't find anything related to importing normal ringers. |
Personally I think that my MP3 edit of "Maps and Legends" by REM is suitable for all business purposes. |
I'm all about the notifier_magic. I think it's subtle enough with low/medium volume for business. At least, none of my clients seem to mind it. |
Oh, and another annoyance... I miss the "beep" that I had my e-mail message notification set to on my 7290. The closest thing I can get to that now is the "sonar" ping. Although it IS a bit entertaining when it goes off in my pocket. I tell some of the hot girls I see and hang out with that my wang has "hot girl sonar" and that it goes off when they're around. I'd kill to go back to that beep, though... :( |

Maybe it's just me, but I happen to think that the 24 ringtone is pretty professional sounding. And it makes me think I'm cooler than everyone else. Haha. |
I am going to upgrade to the 8700g this weekend but I wanted to know something first. Can you set to you profile to ring and vibrate for all you you alerts, calls, messages, etc? |
Yes, you can customize your alerts, vibrate, tone and LED, to differentiate for phone calls, messages, calendar events, sms messages and tasks, and to differentiate based upon whether the BB is in or out of the holster. |

You'd be amazed... *adjusts halo* ;) |

Guess I'll down load the music version of "Back Dat Ass Up" and make sure it's on loud during my next business meeting. |

Does each email account also get a different icon so you can tell which account has mail or where an email came in from? |
