Default OS upgrades without activation?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

First post so let me say great forum and very informative!

Have searched hi and lo for this on here so need some help... I'm looking to upgrade a BES-connected handheld OS from 4.0 to 4.1 using just Desktop Manager. I won't be using my carrier's OS either (Verizon). So far so good but for various reasons I'd like to try and do this without needing to reactivate with a new password Now it seems some of you have done it without having to reactivate afterwards (or it auto reactivated by itself) and some of you have had to wipe the device and reactivate, or at least reactivate with a new password.

Are then any hints for doing this so I don't need to reactivate the devices with new passwords? I read a post after searching that suggested if a handheld has been activated with BES 4.0 before it will recognize the device after the upgrade and carry on as if still activated. Is this true? Have other people found this? Desktop Manager will be able to talk to the BES server if it helps. Does it also need to talk to Exchange? Do I leave the BB plugged in after the upgrade?

Any help appreciated!

I'd like to know this too. After the most recent TMO upgrade, I had to reactivate, and it was a pain. I want to upgrade to 4.1, but don't want to reactivate.

The only way to perform activation without setting another password is to use DTM as the device can be activated via this when hooked up to the PC
