Hi everyone, i've been eyeing this site for awhile, awaiting the arival of my 7100g i bought off ebay. To give you an idea of my knowledge I currently own a nokia 6620 and use nokia's pc suite, and i own a palm tungsten e. My idea was to phase out my palm, and switch between my BB and 6620 (which i love by the way).

OK the problem. I receive my BB today, and the ppl i bought it from didn't clear it out, it has there address book full, and it seems there are a ton of applications. I know there something like a"wipe" to clear it out, but i dont really know where to find BB apps so i wouldn't mind keeping them till i figure out what they do.

I guess my question is where do i start? Should i go ahead and do a complete "wipe" and if so how do i do it. OR should i just delete all their contacts and change the owner?

Sorry if i seem retarted, I'm really not, I've been watching the forum for a couple of days, i made it 1/2 way thought the BB 101 on blackberry.com, and I'm still just lost.

First of all Welcome.

Second of all if you take your time and read through the forum in particular paying attention to the stickies at the top of the page or the buttons at the top of the page like BlackBerry FAQ's a lot of your questions will be answered asides from teaching you a great deal about your new BB.

Now as far as clearing your BB, yes a wipe will do that and it is the fastest way of doing it. You will have to reload the operating system, and may eventually want to reload some of those applications that you are wiping now as it is, so its your call.

I strongly suggest to search for your providers download of the desktop manager (which has the application loader) and the latest handheld software for it to reinstall and have up to date. However, I preface all of this by saying do not attempt this till you have read about the whole process. You have to be patient because if you interrupt the process you only need to start all over again and it can take up to a half hour or maybe even longer in some cases.

If you read through the forum and the places I have pointed out to you, you should leanr how to do this. I hope this is a start and it helps get you going on your way.
