Is there a way I can differentiate the vibrate behavior between phone calls and text messages/emails? For example, two quick vibrates for text, 1 long vibrate for phone calls? When it's in my pocket, i'd like to know whether I need to pick up right away or I can look at it later.

Unfortunately, no, not natively. There may be some 3rd party app that does that, or something similar. Search this forum for one.

Message Alerts is what you want. You can configure it to beep a number of times for different things.

with a pause between each sequence. I mean the Motorolas give you different VIBRATE PATTERNS! Thats what I want on the bb

It's a great app, I bought it the same day I tried it. A must have for the 8700 since the device dosent ring and vibe at the same time.

Does Message Alert allow you to customize a notice response when you receive a SMS or text message, as opposed to an e-mail? I need this capability. I am usually hours late in discovering an SMS or text message.

i wish it would vibrate the same time a ringer is going..
