It's been probably well over a year since I last posted on here, and it was regarding a problem that you fellow blackberry owners sorted within a few hours of me posting, so I added this site to my favorites. God bless Forums

Okay, so, here's my little problem;

Since I upgraded all my clients to Outlook 2003 (from Outlook 2000) nothing synchronises with the Blackberry 7100v's we have.

I'm sure there's just a patch/hotfix/firmware/software update? But if anyone can point me in the right direction that'd be grand.

I have Outlook 2003 running with Exchange 2003 and also had a problem syncing with BB Desktop software 4.1. In the configuration settings you have a choice of syncing either with exchange or with internet settings. Since my PIM data sits on my server, I assumed I wanted exchange. It synced nothing. Changed it to internet settings and viola! It worked!

Maybe someone can explain why using the Exchange setting didn't find the data. I was certainly curious, but moved on.

I think the problem then is that I'm running Desktop Manager 4.0.

Just set the 4.1 to download - 101mb !!! HOW MUCH?

Now, by trade I'm actually an IT Manager, so I understand your question (I think) about Exchange.

It's because your Blackberry tries to contact Exchange on a port that's either not open, or because the the Exchange Server says "Sorry, no snychronising possible" - like group policy.

However, because Exchange 2003/Outlook 2003 can work in an offline mode, it stores your complete mailbox on your PC in the cache, which is completely read/write and without any Group Policy enabled on your computer, you'll be able to synchronise it with the local data.

Speak to your IT Manager.

Edit: It also lowers your network traffic which is a plus, hence another reason why you're unable to synchronise your BB directly with the Exchange Server.
