hey all i know for the longest time the 8700c and its battery doors were a problem, but i just bought a new device today (because my other one is trashed now after a drop on concrete cracking the screen) and it still has that moving battery door and the phone date on the box is marked may 02 2006...just figured id tell people, anyone else just buy one and have this same problem? thanks...

My battery door moves as well, but I always have it in a case so it usually is not a problem. Something to help solve that, you can get a small slip of paper (a post it or whatever) fold it in half and place it on top of the battery, it should secure the battery door.

It's all 8700's as well i'm on my third one from tmo for this issue and i've just learned to live with the card behind the door

The battery door on my 8700 moves ever so slightly up and down but I didn't even notice it until I read this post. I don't think mines that bad at all, are you guys talking drastic movement?

The battery door on my 6 month old 8700c is solid as a rock. Doesn't move a bit. Guess I got lucky.

According to Paul & mriff, the slight play in the battery door might be exclusive to the 8700g. I too have that play on my 8700g, but it doesn't bother me - at least it doesn't rattle when I walk with it holstered on my hip or move it in any other way.

Nah, it's not exclusive to the g. The door on my c moves.

I fixed it with a piece of a business card.

The Treo 650 is the same way.

Man inconsistency seems to be consistant with the 8700. The battery door on my 8700C is tight. So tight in fact that at times when I have had to remove the battery I was afraid was going to damage it trying to squeeze the release so hard while trying to get it to slide off.

Same fix as the Green Latern!! Trimmed a business card, placed it behind the battery door and now it's solid as a rock!! I definately notice a difference now when I type on my 8700c...
