| If you cant find the owner call Rogers and report to them that you found it and give them the PIN and IMEI. They'll track down the person. They won't give you any of their info, hopefully, however you could bring the handheld into a store and they'll get it back to the person. | | Offline

| What I cant understand is why would anyone come into this forum and ask such a question. In the first place if you own a Blackberry you know how expensive they are, and how indispensable they become to you, so the first thing I would think is this, if it had happened to me what would I want or hope for. I would hope someone returned it. In the second place even if you dont own one and you are not a member of the forum a few minutes of searching for found a BB would have given the person the forums sentiment on such issues. So to come here and expect other answers or pray tell help in getting around how to use it from other members is ludricous at best. ahhpff I am sorry if this sounds like dumping on you or bashing but you could not or should not expect anything different even if this was not a Blackberry forum, now do the right thing and return it so that it can be returned to its rightful owner, I am sure that they will be grateful, and hopefully some day if this were to happen to you someone would do the right thing for you as well, remember the movie PAY IT FORWARD, this place would certainly be a whole better place if we all did a bit of that.

| without any moral or ethical conclusions on my part...
If you switch sim cards the 8700 will work. assuming it is the same carrier as you r currently on with the 7290. phone and sms should be fine. but the email function would not work. You need to change the pin at the BIS. when I got a new berry I didnt need to change the imei number. I believe the PIN is all that it really needs. The second time I switched berries I did change PIN and IMEI on the BIS. that was fine as well.
Good luck.

| I love the I found a BB threads, should be referred to as how can I go about using this BB without getting caught? I only hope the PIN/IMEI has been reported lost/stolen, better yet an IT Policy. Don't be a creep and return it to it's rightful owner you would expect the same. Quote: |

| I would only hope it is yours to see how you would answer him then and how youd feel if someone else answered him just the way you did. The right thng is the right thing, regardless of whose it is. What is even better is finch's post above which leads you to speculate where it was found after all. Quote: |

How ofter do we read about "finding" something - my other favorite is "my friend changed the password and forgot it"...
I don't care whose it is as long as it itsn't mine...but then what happens when it is? Jerk....
...and BTW, arche3, one can't live without reaching ethical and moral conclusions....

2. I don't pay for my bberry, it's on a corporate plan.
3. even if it's a stolen bberry the guy he stole it from didn't lock it up in a situation where he obviously should have locked it up.
Dude may be morally deplorable for stealing a bberry, but it doesn't excuse the guy that was dumb enough to not keep a 500$ peice of hardware under lock and key.
4. let me restress #1. OKTHXGBYE.

| locking a BB OK... since we are on the topic of "losing" it, and I got my first BB 1 month ago, how can I lock it so if I ever "lose" it, it will be useless for the person who "finds" it? Passwords, entering the owners name, anything I can do to keep it safe?
Thanks.
P.S. totally return it... Karma hasn't worked for me yet (I brought back wallets w/ cash and ccs, and at least 2 phones in my life, and the one time I did lose a phone, they answered it when I called it but didn't return it) | | Offline
