My contract ends in like a week or so, and I wanted some opinions on what carrier I should go with. I'm currently with T-Mobile and theres nothing wrong with it , but i wanted to try something new. I have a 7100t and I definatly don't want to stick with that. I want to know which one is expensive or cheap. So please give me some suggestions. I'm partically interested in Nextel. Is it too expensive?


PS: I'm thinking of the 8700 because of EDGE, it's pretty expensive but is it worth it?

The first thing you should consider is coverage for where you will be using it. Even if you get the least expensive or coolest device, it won't matter if you can't use it. Make SURE you know how Nextel works if that the way you want to go. I think equipment wise Nextel is good (but my company pays for mine and we already get a discount), but I have heard their data plans are higher than T-Mo.

Next, why don't you like the 7100t? Non-QWERTY? Then I'd go with the 8700, probably from T-Mo based on what I've read on the boards. Their data seems to be cheaper, and I haven't seen any threads about people getting nailed with data charges they didn't know were coming. As soon as Sprint/Nextel comes out with the 8700, that's what I'm switching to (I have the 7100i now).

I never said i didn't like the 7100t, but i dont want to stick with it because i wnat to try different phones. I'm kind of tired of the 7100t. i wanted to try the 7290 or the 8700. What do you think? Oh yeah and i did read a couple of forums and Nextel seems to be pretty pricey. So far i think T-Mobile has the best plans. Anyone thinks otherwise?

The 8700 has much better screen resolution than the 7290, along with having dedicated send/end keys on the front of the device (with the 7290 you have to hold in the escape key under the wheel to hang up a call).

Yes, it's faster with EDGE. Yet another reason to go with the 8700.

With my experience, I have found that Cingular offers the best reception and support. And I have traveled quite a bit with it(about 3 states...All over these states) and always had atleast 4 bars.

Well I never go anywhere but around my house so it doesn't have to be excellent coverage.

I have a 7290 and a 7105t on T-Mo. The 7290 will not give you faster anything.

If you are looking to change, you may prefer the 8700 over the 7290. 8700 has incredible specs and people seem to love it! And it has the send/end keys like a regular phone.

The 7290 is nice - very solid - but really I think you would only gain a full keyboard over your 7100.

well if your contract is up then you might be able to get the BB for 199.00 including S&H from t-mo and I would recommend t-mo because I had both t-mo and cingu and it is very very painful just to talk to those not-so-nice people at cingu because they will have to start everything like "take your battery out" even though it is the battery which is dead -
I would highly recommend the t-mo and their customer serivice is superb.
The only best thing cingular has done so far is the direct line for bb users support
8700 is the thing to have,. makes different in browsing
