I just *couldn't* figure out why my 7100 thought I had 4 unread messages (the little orange envelope, top left), even though I was sure I'd read everything I'd sent myself -- and the unit having only gone into service yesterday, I was pretty sure no one *else* had sent me anything...

If your Messages list is configured (in Phone Options->Call Logging) to display missed calls *those call records will show up in the count*. You have to Mark Opened on each call record to get the counter to clear.

Just another tip from Captain Obvious.

Also, Saved (and unread messages) count also.

I was going to say that that sounded even more obvious than mine... but then I realized the point you were making. Yes, if you save a message from the message list, without reading it, I guess it would still show up in the count as well, wouldn't it?

Good thing it does; reminds you that you still haven't read it.

Sometimes it does - but they are easy enough to delete from the Messages list, but they remain in Saved Messages.

Click the Green SEND button to get to the Phone Screen->
Click the trackwheel, select Options, then Call Logging

Select what you'd prefer to see there, then Click and Save.
