I paid $399 at Frys Electonics in California and it also had a $50 rebate. This was for a 8700g version of T-Mobile

amazon.com - You end up making $25 after a $200 rebate. Have to sign up for a 2 year deal though. This is for the Tmobile version. Not sure about cingular.

I think amazon.com's "upgrade" price (no new contract price) is $499 for the 8700g.

Talking Free with 100 dollars in free access.

Click on the link at the blackberry.com website, which says "get $100 dollars of free accessories when you purchase online" (It is the big box on their main site). This brings you to wirefly. You have to sign up through them, pay your bills on time, and get a data plan as well as a voice plan, but you get a free 8700g after rebates, and a 100 dollar gift certificate for accessories.

Free 8700g with 1 year contract, free 100 dollars worth of accessories. You won't find a better deal...

personally i would NEVER go through a 3rd party, sub-agaent, or internet seller, thats just me. I will spend the extra money, go through a corporate channel with the gaurantee of eqiupment replacement, service etc. also great things like secondary commitment, stacking termination fee's etc. We call those guys "dirt merchants" where im from =)

Some people also seem to recommend this online dealer in this thread-
"New 8700 on T-Mobile - They pay you $75.00 "

Default I used eBay with a quality seller

eBay. Got my 8700c for $305 with shipping and no contract since I have 1 year left on my current one. You do have to watch out though if you use eBay. Always ask lots of questions to the seller and read the entire description. If it isn't noted, ask the seller what all you are getting because some don't include such things as the instruction booklets, CDs if any, carrying case if any, etc.

watch for posts that recommend certain sites that give you free blackerry's and are not highly rated on other sites. Many times people will advertise with posts and really not recommending certain sites. This is true for all forums.

Default Why did you switch

from the 8700c to the 7130? I'm by Monterey and am considering the 8700c or the VZW 7130. Currently using Sprint Treo 650.

thx, David

I love the 8700c, but in my neck of the woods (Thousand Oaks-Ventura County) VZW network is BY FAR superior. I switched providers for the device and ended up going back. I went from a 7130e VZW to a 8700c Cingular back to 7130e VZW. I am just waiting for VZW to release their model.

The 7130e is a great device I have no complaints. When both are available on VZW I will choose the 8700c for the personal preference of the screen and keyboard.

Side note: I have had the treo 600, and 650- The blackberry hands down beats the treo. The stability of the devices OS puts it into a different class. No more reset looping!
