Default Speakerphone shortcut on 8700r

Please Login to Remove!

Guys

I'm finding myself addicted to the speakerphone when calling.

Is there a way to use a shortcut to activate the speakerphone when on a call?

Have a Rogers 8700r, there is a button on the top that mutes your voice but thats about all I could find. Nothing in the phone shortcuts in the Help either.

Thanks

The button to the right of the M button has a picture of a speaker on it. Pushing this during a call will turn the speaker on.

Wow. Add me to the "short bus" list. I've stared at that button and never figured out that THAT'S what's it's for. How funny.

I find this thread funny. Reminds me of my former boss when we still had nextel BB, he heard me one day talking on the phone and the other party on the speaker, he asked my why he does not have that functionality on his phone which we probably had for a year. I pointed him the speaker button and he was wondering if the button was there all along. I'm glad I don't work for him anymore.

You can also activate the speakerphone during a call via the menu option 'activate speakerphone' in the phone menu. Though the button is much easier
Note that the speakers are on the back of the BB, so you need to set the unit face down or you block the speaker.

I think you hit either O or P on the keyboard while on a call and that should switch from speaker to regular and vice versa..

Yes, but there is a similar setup on the full qwerty devices..when I had my 72xx series, it was something like that, I forgot it though..

You just hit the speakerphone button again to turn it off. O/P does nothing...

For those on the 7100: On the 8700 the '$' key is split between the '$' and speakerphone icon.

Add me to Pizzle's 'short bus', I didn't know what it was there for until I read this thread, either!!

Somehow I eventually figured this out. But the guy at the Rogers Store that sold me my 8700 - and had one himself - obviously had no clue about the key when I suggested that the lack of a speakerphone shortcut was unfortunate.
It's the 8700's "secret ingredient".

What I can't believe is that it's even shown on the cover to the "Getting Started Guide" (What's That?) at least on Cingular's version.

Manual, we don't need no stinkin' manual.
