Default 8700C Distictive Ring

Please Login to Remove!

OK, I just upgraded for the forth time. I love my blackberry.
Anyway, I'm upgrading this time from the 7100g. My question, I gone through the manual I don't see where it can do distictive rings. Anyone know anything about this feature, does it exist?

Do you mean a distictive ring for someone calling you, or distictive rings for when SMS, Email, PIN, etc come in?

Have you checked out the "Profiles" settings on how to use distinctive ringtones. There is also a dedicated Ringtones forum where you can check things out.

You can set ringtones for specific callers...

I created a new profile doesn't seem to work however.
I will checkout the ringtone forum.

Thanks

I am trying to have a distictive ring for incoming calls.
So when my wife call I have a different ringtone play than when a client may call me.

Go into the Address Book.
Select the entry for your wife, click the wheel and select "Edit"
Click the wheel again and select "Add Custom Phone Tune"...

Find your wifes information in the addressbook, click edit and there will be an option to add custome ringtone. Click yes and go from there. When my wife calls, it plays the theme to the pink panther (useless trivial there)

Imperial March----------------Perfect. I used to have mine play a death march tune but she did not find it as humorous as I did.

i wish that when you change your profile all the custom ring settings would go with it.. like when i make a profile for work i dont want all my crazy ringers to blast.. id like them all to default to some regular ringer.. but you have to uncheck all the custom ringers.. does that make any sense?

I have my work profile to only vibrate. Even with the custom ring tones set they will not ring when I switch to my work profile.

Never mind, misread your post, but I'll leave how you did this.

If you set up the exceptions from the address bookn you can't do this all the time. Certain OS versions, not sure yet if it is all, do not allow editing of the Use Profile feature if you set the exception from the contact.

Go to the Profiles and delete all the exceptions that you want to follow the active profile, then go to the menu and create a new exception, name it and add the contact or contacts, set the Use Profile to Active and select the tone to use. Now when you change the active profile the exceptions created this way will change to the avcive profile also. You'll need a new exception for each different ringtone you want to use.

Hope this helps.
