Question 8700g: Anyone have problems logging into AIM using OZ?

Please Login to Remove!

So I've had my Tmobile 8700g for about a month now and I've been having issues with signing into the OZ AIM....

1)When I try signing on, there are many times where it'll go to 20% Signing on......to 80% Receiving buddies and then all of a sudden just stall and a message pops up saying something like "Communication error: Check your settings or network"...i have full data coverage whenever this happens also. i'm puzzled as to why this happens. Any Ideas?

2) When I am signed on, does the buddy list refresh by itself? because sometimes the person on my buddy list appears to be online but when I message them..they dont' receive anything..

So far i have been only using the OZ client and i've been frustrated with it...anyone else sharing the same problems? Please help!

----:::HERE IS THE GAURANTEED SOLUTION::::------
send one test message to 92466 (Yahoo) with just out in the body.. "out" is lowercase.. you will get the mesg that you have been logged out..
then try the normal login thhru OZ IM. it will owrk..

This problems comes if you were logged into the PC and did not logout and try to login thru the BB and BB OZ IM can not logout successfully..
t-mo is aware of the issue but in the mean time this is solition..
for more info send the blank sms to 92466 and you will get all the commands..
good luck

OZ is an app that T-Mobile provides for chating using AIM, MSN, Yahoo and ICQ accounts.

If I use OZ IM client on my 8700g via TMO, will I be charged by sending and receiving instant messages on AIM? The plan I selected was $29.99 unlimited data plan without voice plan and 300 text messages per month. I was told that OZ Messenger repackages AIM messages using SMS therefore it applies to 300 text messages per month. If that is the case, Ramble is the way to go if you want to use AIM on 8700g without incurring any costs. Is that correct?

yes OZ IM will charge you SMS for chatting, so those 300 messages will go pretty quick. I would suggest trying verichat, thats my favorite but it costs money. Although ramble is good too and also free. Theres a couple others but the all cost money. Also OZ IM you can only have 30 buddies where as verichat and Ramble you can have your entire buddy list.

Hope this helps!

I have been using OZ for MSN IM. So far it is working great. The only problem is the charge. I did not realize that each text you receive and send is charged on my account. I have a shared plan and the unlimited BB data plan. I called TMO and they do have an unlimted text plan for $59.99!!!!!! I guess I will have to use alternatives!

ok so evidently this is limited to the yahoo messenger. and a possible solution to that. but since i dont use yahoo messenger..only msn and aol i think we're sol until t-mobile comes up with a solution. that or 3rd party software which i'm now seeing on the boards is having issues with tmobile now.

59.99!?whoa! That's outrageous. What kind of plan do you have. I have family plan. I have a 8700g and my wife has a MDA. We pay 9.99 a month for unlimited text messages. That includes both lines.

I think that OZ IM is problematic. On my wife's MDA they include OZ also, she could almost never log into AIM. She has a 3rd party app that works great. If was free. I forgot the name it works on Windows mobile phones. I use ramble myself. I don't have any problems. And its free.

Also when the OZ IM is working it seems to lag. I say dump it. There are many 3rd party apps that work great and are FREE.

This is the plan he's talking about.

BlackBerry Minutes & Mail1000NoneNone$59.99 That's for a single line. I don't know how much it is for a Family Plan.

Why not use IM+. One time fee and the messages aren't billed like SMS messages. It runs on GPRS so youonly pay for data.

I am on a family plan with my wife that does not offer any text messages. I have the unlimited BB data plan and that is $19.99/month. I tried to get unlimited texted messaging after using OZ and figuring out that i was being charged for each text I received and sent, but the customer service rep said that there was no cheap alternative at present. I was figuring that there must be a plan for people that like to IM a lot. Plus it looks like all the family plans do not have text and they only come as add ons. From wha I can see there is a plan for umlimited IM at $19.99/month (family plan) but it is not offered for the BB

I am now using QuickIM for MSN. That works with the data plan. The software is not as great as you go to a new screen each time you reply or write a text. So far this is the only one that works on the 8700 and is OTA downloadable.

Tennvol is correct. It is better to a third party IM software.

$45 bucks 1 time fee for IM+ saves you from buying an unlimted text msg lpan. I was able to OTA download it for my 8700g.
