Default wav files attached to MMS are sometimes dropped

Please Login to Remove!

My VOIP service emails me my voicemail as a wav attachment. Here's the situation:

1. I can recieve that attachment in MS Outlook and then send it to my 8700g via MMS by sending an email from my PC to [my phone number]@tmomail.net. If I do that I recieve the wav file as an MMS attachment and can listen to it on my BlackBerry perfectly.

2. However, if I setup my mail server to forward mail from my voicemail directly to [my phone number]@tmomail.net then I get an MMS message with the text: "Attachment Dropped: <unknown name> of type: <MULTIPART/Voice-Message; Version=2.0;..........."

Why does it drop the attachment if I forward the email directly to the BB from the mailserver but it recieves the attachment if I forward it from Outlook? Anybody have a clue?

Smile So you can hear the wav file on the BB

You can hear the wav file on your BB without going to a web broswer? Everytime I try to send my voicemail (which is a wav file) the attachment never makes it no matter how I send it. Could you detail it out how you send the file or forward the file as I would like to experiment with my own BB. I have cingular and I wonder if that would make a difference. Do you use BES? Thanks

I'm very curious to know how you're doing that as well. What steps are you using for both 1 and 2?

Which address are you sending it to? Are you sending it to your normal email address or your BB's SMS address? I'm not sure how Cingular formats their SMS addresses, but with T-mobile the format is [your 10 digit phone number]@tmomail.net.

I have only been successful at receiving wav files that are sent via MMS. If I send them via regular email I canxxx8217;t open them.

Here's how to send an MMS with a wav attachment (These instructions are for a 8700g on T-mobile):

In order to send via MMS you must send an email with your wav file attached to [your 10 digit phone number]@tmomail.net

You should receive the MMS message on your BB with an option to play the wav file. NOTE: You will be charged for a SMS message each time you receive one of these messages.

Please keep me posted on your success. I have been having intermittent problems sending wav files and I'm trying to figure out how to get it working consistently.
