Default IMing on Tmobile 7105

I've made the switch and joined the blackberry world. So far I'm liking it, thanks to many of the posts here. BUT my question...

Do Yahoo/AIM IMs come out of my text message plan or are they part of the data package? 3 people at T-mobile weren't sure and actually gave me almost 3 different answers. If they come out of text messages I'm thinking it would be cheaper to get pay once for an aftermarket IM software instead of $15 a month for all the extra text messages.

Depending on how you answer that I've got some questions about the OZ IM software, but we'll save those for later.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Mike

I've just started using my 7290 on T-Mobile, but since my employer pays for my service, I'm not up on the expense.

Check out these threads at hofo:

That agile IM seems like the way to go. I've been using YIM, but that is because a group I'm in uses it as a common platform.

IMs are sent as text messages by default on Tmobile. There are a few workarounds, i'm running out the door, but search around and you should find a few.

I got the $14.99 Unlimited Messaging plan added onto the 300 messages I get with my BIS plan with T-Mobile. OZ client works good. I sign onto AIM, ICQ and MSN that way. But I also use RIM's versions of BlackBerry Messenger, Google Talk Messenger and Yahoo Messenger.
