I'm trying to get a friend's new 8700 working on Suncom. I set the APN option under proxy to "internet" and now third party applications like Google Maps work like a charm. Still, he's unable to log into secure web sites like Ebay--when he clicks on the "login" link a "Bad Gateway" message comes up. Not sure what the problem is--I have no trouble with secure sites on my 7250 (on the Alltel) network but he's really getting frustrated by not being able to access Ebay and other secure sites. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...

Never heard of Suncom? Is that a service provider? or re-seller of some kind?

Have him download opera-mini and see if that helps him get to some of the sites he cant access.

I use my BB browser primarily but use Opera for sites that dont display correctly like MySpace, Opera works great as a substitute!

I still want to get him an answer for why his default BB browser won't let him access sites, but thanks for the Opera Mini tip. I'll suggest that to him and see if it helps...

FWIW, Suncom *used* to be Bell South Mobility until a name change a few years back. they're a fairly big player in the cellular market in the southeastern US...
