For those who have this phone, please advise of any issues you are having. More specifically, the big two ones I have are as follows:

1. The holster does not put the device to sleep when fully put into the holster. The magnet on the holster is about 1/2 way up and the device is located by the space bar. This means I have to raise the degvice 1/2 way out of the holster before it goes to sleep mode.

2. Upon booting (insert batery), the device goes to a JVM 102 error. It will do this twice and then on the third time boot into the OS. This is reproducable every time.

One ismore of an issue to me. Two might me correctable, but Cingular hasto move quick and post the OS on RIM's website.

Anone else please comment if this is limited to only my device or is it global?

If you are experiencing JVM errors on your new BlackBerry, and Cingular has not yet made the handheld software available, I would take it back and get a replacement.

reloading and the software is not the issue. I want to know if this is a global issue or just one device.

I just picked up a 7130c.

1. I just tested the holster and mine worked perfectly. Are you inserting the device screen in?

2. Booted up right away the first time. No errors.

I'd go exchange your unit.

Any early indications if the 7130c is more dust resistant than the 8700? I realize it's probably way too early to know, but weren't there other carrier variants of the 7130 that might provide some clues? (Is the Verizon 7130e the same beast in a different housing, or an entirely different animal?)

We've had 7290's, 7100's, and 8700's at our company (I administer the BB services). I traded my [damaged] 8700 for a 7130 today. Pisses me off right away about the holster/magnet positioning problem - yes, mine has it too. Yes - tried it forwards backwards and even upside down both ways.

Until I call Cingular tomorrow and see what they're doing about it - I've just set it to lock when holstered. As it passes the battery it shuts off, locks, and then wakes up - but at least it's locked and no accidental key presses.

No battery/boot problems though.
