This is clearly the place to ask.
I have a new Vodafone 8707v prosumer with 2 problems
The phone is supposed to support MMS, but - unlike my 8700v - is missing the WAP MMS Transport service book and none of the MMS messaging options are available
I cannot use Verichat or BBToday, because there is no TCP option in the Settings/Advanced menu to set the necessary access point
When I try to use either of these applications, they report a problem with access point "null"
Having researched this, it occurs to me that there may be some sort of policy restriction set on the device - I have no idea how that could be but it seems to fit
I know that it is possible to set a policy to disable MMS but I don't know if this makes the relevant service book "not appear"
I also know it is possible to set a policy to define the TCP access point (possibly to the default of null) but I don't know if that would also make the TCP option vanish from the settings menu - presumably it would.
This device has never been connected to an enterprise server to have a policy file loaded, so if there is one, it was either there in the box, or was loaded when I first registered the device with the Blackberry Internet Service
The latest info I have, from an email I have received from Vodafone Tech this evening, is:-
"RIM have replicated the problems you are experiencing with the Blackberry 8707 and are now investigating to find out exactly what has caused the problem"
Anyone care to express an opinion on the likely cause
Anyone with an 8707v who does NOT have these problems?
Is there any easy way to tell if there is an active policy restriction file on the device?
