Default BB 8700g Help - No Network Coverage

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone would be so kind as to help me with a problem or point me in the right direction, as im a BB noob:$

My mate (while out fishing at the weekend dropped his 8700g into the water and broke his BB - Error Message JVM Error 200, he couldnt be bothered fixing it and is wasnt covered under warranty, so he gave it to me.

After a few searches and capture of RIM Software, i managed to wipe the phone and reinstall everything again, via javaloader and the desktop thingy, the BB is working.. almost. it was purchased from O2 (wee logo at bottom of screen) so i put in an o2 sim card and thought hey happy days. the problem is that the BB will not select the o2 network, ive tried to manually enter in MCC/MNC codes but nothing:( when i automatically search for it, it will time out.. I tried to call my house number and it says turn on radio which i accept but that times out too! is this a major problem or easily sorted? I dont know if this will have anything to do with it but the PIN is set to FFFFFFFF (which i'd say is incorrect, and maybe the main problem) is there anyway to change this manually, or will i have to create some sort of file to load into the BB forcing the PIN?

Any help would be appreciated.

cheers

Welcome... Using the "search" function at the top of the screen, I found lots of information on PIN FFFFFFFF, including this reference to a RIM BlackBerry web site at http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgec...7221&vernum=12

Cutting to the chase: PIN FFFFFFFF means a dead BlackBerry
