My 7100t crapped out so I was sent a 7105t as a replacement...Seems a bit better but I cannot import a backed up address book into the new phone. From desktop manager I try to import and get "Cannot backup or restore the following database: Address Book. The data was not recognized by the handled." I tried a couple of different files and keep getting this error...ANY IDEAS WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!

try to open your backup file with outlook...if that opened.then synchronize it with BB Handheld.That file must be *.csv

usually you load the sim book from the options menu in the address book

What? The person made a backup and now can;t restore it. Most people who use a BB do not keep their address book on their SIM card.

I just encountered the same problem...i saw on another msg board:

"The backup file contains one or more address book entries with no First Name, Last Name, or Company. This backup was made from a device with a version of device software earlier than 4.1, which allowed these entries to be synchronized to the device."

So basically i'm out of luck here too...If anyone finds another option or way to load the address book - let me know!!!

I might try downgrading to software version that is prior to 4.1 - they try loading the address book.

Does anyone have a copy a pre v4.1 version of the handheld and desktop software?

I recently upgraded to 4.1 and now i can't load my address book that i backed up prior to the upgrade. Aparently, v4.1 requires certain fields to be mandatory in the address (first name, lastname, etc) and does not allow certian characters in the name fields. So if you have ANY addresses in your address book does not conform to the above you will NOT be able to import any of the addresses from your address book!!!!

I am trying to track down prior versions of the software to DOWNGRADE so that i can load up my address book.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Wait, hold the phone, is there no way to get it into Outlook? Can't you import it there, then sync?
