| I am also a new owner of a 7130c. I've written quite a lenghty review of the unit on my blog. I love it. I'm coming from a Treo 650. | | Offline

I'm using one now too - don't know if it can replace my 8700 yet, I love that Thing! Suretype will takes few days for me to adapt to again... And I hate not having keyboard shortcuts!!! It is nice and fast though, and that I love. Also the Rogers software comes with the today themes... But I'm back to zen, since I can't use the key shortcuts!

| So, what's a 7100 not do that the 7130 will do?
Mine makes/receives calls, sends/receives email, surfs the web, does appointments, note and calendaring.
the 7130 is better because....?

Been playing with it, and talk about a fast interface! I love this phone, now to convince him to give me his older one... | | Offline

| congrats on the 7130C...
As for what the 7130c can do that the 7100G cant..
1. Intel processor
2. Twice the memory of the 7100 series in the 7130c
3. night and day difference in the suretype system that the two use
7130c uses suretype v2.0 and it is GOOD!
4. Advanced bluetooth profiles, the 7130c can make FULL use of the Jabra hs800 BT headset with callerID.
5. bugfixes galore...and the batterylife of the 7130C doesnt suck. In short..the 7130C is sexy and hot...the 7100 is like Twiggy...hot but...not modern.

| 8700c to 7130c Convert Well I've had my new 7130c for two days now; I'd never go back to the 8700. While I miss the full keyboard, the suretype isn't that hard to get used to, the smaller size is VERY convenient and it functions just as fast (if not a little faster) than the 8700c. Comes with the ZEN profile too; I don't have to hack the thing!
The only thing I really miss is my Stinson shortcuts! You can't turn off dialing from the main screen to use your message, calendar, etc. shortcuts. That sucks, but other than that I like the new platform! | | Offline

| Thanks eveyone for such a warm welcome . Im looking forward to playing around with it more, any recommendations on must have applications, games, themes? I just ordered a BT dongle an hour ago for $16 shipped and I just received an email saying that its already on its way!
Just a little FYI for those of you in Southern CA. I just took a trip to Vegas over the weekend and had absolutely no problems with reception or EDGE wireless along the 15.

| What strikes me as interesting so far is the relative lack of "cons" being reported on the 7130c, aside from lgreenberg's initial application installation problems, of course.
What I mean by lack of "cons" so far are things like, "this thing sounds worse than my old Blackberry xxxx model", "keeps dropping calls" or "I have to reboot several times a day!"
Aside from individual preferences (Suretype vs. QWERTY, the screen orientation, or if you wish you had a camera/MP3 player built in) the 7130c so far sounds like good news.
Bad news travels much faster than good news on Forums, so I hope the abundance of "good news" isn't a result of "new gadget honeymoon" phase.
Know what I mean? My next pass at a Cingular store might be this weekend... I may need to take another long, hard look at the 7130c. | | Offline

Rubi, Blackberry fanatic and rabidly obsessed with anything having to do with free/cheap blackberries. | Did the 7100 have the ambient light sensor? It's one of the cooler things. The 7130c's speed is quite surprising but that's until you realize it uses the same cpu as the Treo 650.
Am I the only one that likes the Today theme? I like having my missed calls and calendar entries at a glance. | | Offline

| I waited for a couple weeks before getting the 7103 just to see what the "gotchas" were. lgreenbergs initial problems sounded kinda scary, but the universal happiness after that sold me.
I would never get a new BB without letting the people on the board test it for me.

| New 7130 c here too I finally after 3 weeks now decided I will keep it and dont trade it back in for a 8700. I turned of the smart type function and love it now, I really didn like function and after turning it off and just using double tap I fine and happy. Email works fine and if I can figure out now how to get the " You got mail " sound on to my BB and use it as a notice of my mail arrival, Im 100% happy. | | Offline
