Default Help! Data sync issues.

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I'm the proud owner of a new 8700 and a complete BB newbie.

I've got a series of teething problems, but the main one is getting my data properly sync'd on MS Outlook (on an exchange server) and on the BB (on BES according to our techs). Our company has three years BB experience so I think the system is properly set up.

I had the BB for a couple of weeks before the BES was activated. During this time I used the USB cable and desktop manager to sync data. There were some issues with the data but I did get the two to sync nicely for calendar, notes and contacts. This week the BES was activated and I started getting data wirelessly, including messages. At the same time, the notes and calendar entries became duplicated. I think this was because the exchange data and the data on the BB was considered 'different'. To clean everything up, I deleted the duplicate notes in Outlook and installed a clean version of my calendar in Outlook from a backup (I deleted all calendar entries in Outlook and copied all entries from the backup). I now have perfectly clean Outlook data on the exchange server. The data on the BB is fine for notes and contacts (curiously, contacts were always OK). However, I have duplicate calendar entries on the BB.

Is there a way of forcing a sync on the BB so that the BB data perfectly matches Outlook? Or do you have another suggestion for purging the BB calendar data?

My second issue is that data no longer seems to be wirelessly sync'ing, an issue I'll take up with my tech on Monday. I mention this because I can't be sure this issue isn't effecting the data sync'ing properly.

All help gratefully recieved...

Any way to force the BES to overwrite the calendar? I too have duplicate entried for any recurring appointment. Short of doing a hard reset, is there a way to just clear our the entire calendar DB and import everything that is in outlook?
