Default 7130c on Tmobile

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

If one were to get a 7130c unlocked and put their TMobile SIM into it would it work? How about the EDGE network capabilities / do they work similiarly between cingular and tmobile?

Any other thoughts on doing this?

IT should work fine. T-Mobile's EDGE implementation is very good.

Anyone have experience about how TMobile will treat you if you have an unlocked phone? Do they wash there hands of support?

I've never called them for BlackBerry support; I have an unlocked 8700c running for months on T-Mobile with no issues at all. If you have a phone problem I'm not sure they'd help you.

I wish I knew more about when the 7130 for TMobile will be available. I don't get why they are so secretive; if anything it would seem to make sense to announce these things as early as possible. That could prevent people like me from jumping ship...

oh well.

According to my Direct Reps that work at RIM, T-Mobile at this point has no plans to release the 7130, which IMO is a mistake on their part. Has anyone heard anything different?

That's depressing. I wonder what their next BB would be? Are they going to ride the same blackberrys they have until...UMTS? The 8707? Id really like to get a BB w/ Tmo, but I don't want the 8700 and their 7100 BB is ugly and besides that It doesn't have EDGE. We need to start a petition or something...

I called TMobile direclty and got the same answer. They said the 8700 and their sidekick were alternatives to the 7130c. I have the 7100T right now and want to upgrade, but I'd rather not switch to cingular. From what I saw Cingular's blackberry plan is more expensive than TMo.

I actually attempted this a couple of weeks ago ( 7130c on T-Mobile service). Long story short, since TMO has opted not to carry the 7130c, RIM has not created TMO-specific Service Books for the handset. End result- No e-mail push, no internet access...or as they say in Maine, "Can't get deah from heah".

Thanks for the post. Saved me some headaches. That leaves me with leave TMobile for Cingular or deal with my current phone

So you weren't able to use the device other than a phone?

I am guessing that this means no buying one at full retail. RIM must have created the 8700 service books then before their actual device, release, because I used an 8700c for quite a while unlocked on t-mobile

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I am also looking to buy one. I know GSMPHONESOURCE can unlock it for sure.
Is somebody successfully using the 7130c with T-Mobile?
