however the BB does show up in the Device manager the laptop is running WinXP

Has any one ran into this issue ???

Did you have the Desktop Manager running? Also you need to make sure you have a RIM serial port as well. What I had to do is uninstall any COM ports that show up as RIM, reboot, then manually add one, then start up the Desktop Manager, then when I started up VZAccess Manager and ran the wizard, everything worked just fine.

I have had that problem from time to time and I definitely do not have the desktop manager running when I use VZAccess. Most of the time disconnecting the phone from the usb cable and closing and restarting VZAccess (with desktop manager closed) usually does the trick. Occaisionally I have to reboot the computer. Those two have always done the trick for me.

I have had the same issue, usually solved with unplugging then replugging the USB as KBNash suggested. I have not had to reboot though. Same thing seems to happen with the DT manager. not sure why, maybe some problem with keeping the devices straight? Solved the same way.
