Default very low call volume eventhough i put on highest volume

Please Login to Remove!

i noticed today that when calls are made/received that i can barely hear
the person on the other side (eventhough i have my volume set very high). I'm just using the phone as the hand set, no bluetooth headset or wired headset.
When i put them on speaker phone, i can hear them well.
could this be a bug?? has anyone else experienced this?

edit: this problem is intermittent.

Could it be that you aren't positioning your ear on where it's supposed to?

I know it sounds pretty dumb but sometimes you just wonder why you can't hear when in fact you have set your volume on high only to find out that you didn't position those 3 little holes right on your ear.

Which carrier do you have and what's location? I ask because I had that exact problem with Cingular (in NYC), no matter what device I used.

Unfortunately, it had major problems too.

I have experienced this problem when receiving DC calls. To correct the problem, I call my home phone number from the phone option, set speaker on and use the trackwell to turn up the volume to maximum. Also under phone options/general options/, check the default phone volume option, should be set to 100%.

Exclamation

There is another way to help the volume problem - you can install the Telstra 8700 software on your phone - I was VERY surprised to find that the volume on my Cingular 8700c increased markedly when I installed the Telstra ROM. Instructions on how to do this have been posted here - search for Jibi's instructions.

What about the "tone" of the sound in our earpiece?

To me, it is the tone, not the volume of the BB. I never turn it all the way up. The sound is a little "muddy", or muffled, as we like to say in our biz, music biz. Muted highs.
Anything to reduce the bass or increase the mids or highs??

i don't think there is an option for that.
when i stick in the ear piece, it's fine.
it is just when nothing is "connected" to the phone.

Does anyone know if the volume on a bluetooth earpiece would also be increased after installing Telstra? My handset is fine, but my earpiece blows...

It's a Moto H700. I've read everything about the earpiece and there's no other way to adjust volume, other than the "up" button, which I have done until it chimes that it's at max volume.

Unless I hear that other people have tried Telstra and their earpiece is noticeably louder, than I prob won't try it...Everything else works great so I don't want to screw it up by installing Telstra, and risk having problems.

I have the same problem on my 8700c. It seems like this would be an issue that could be fixed in software, however the fact that there are several updates and none of them seems to fix it makes me think that perhaps it is just a limitation of the speaker they used for the ear part(?).

The phone volume is just way too low, even when set to max. The phone is hard to hear in all but the quietest environments.

Still, the 8700 is such a fantastic device, that I am willing to deal with this issue...it would be great if a solution were found though.

Cheers,
Juan

Installed Telstra last night on my 8700c running on Tmo. Volume is indeed louder. I also like the zen theme better. Thanks for the tips from fellow forum posters.
