I just got the new Cingular Blackberry 7130c and I am running Mac OS X (10.4.6) on an Intel Core Duo iMac. I can get the computer to recognize the BB via Bluetooth, though it will not allow me to add it as a synchronizable device via iSync. When I connect the BB via the USB cable, the computer does not acknowledge any device being there.

I have downloaded and installed Pocket Mac for Blackberry, but it does not even see the BB.

Has anyone had any luck connecting their 7130c under a similar setup?

BT on the BlackBerry is limited to headset communication and a couple BT keyboards and BT sync with the PC desktop manager that's it. You'll have to sync via USB on the Mac.

I tried synching via USB. The Mac did not recognize that the BB was even plugged in. Is there something (drivers?) that I need to do first?

Have you activaded PocketMac with a serial number? (It's free)
That held me up for a while.

Try maybe a different USB port? On my Powerbook, I notice that I can charge my 7130c on one USB port, but not the other.

Yes, I did activate it.

I have not tried multiple USB ports, though I did know enough not to use the keyboard USB or a USB hub.

It's not charging that I'm concerned about, but OS recognition of the device so that I can sync calendar/contacts/etc.

I am using the 7130c using a MacBook and it syncs fine with PocketMac. I can't really pinpoint what your problem is but are you running Growler with the hardwaregrowler plugin? Hardwaregrowler will show your a display whenever something is connected to your mac via usb (and other things). What's strange is that when I plug in my 7130, it connects then disconnects then connects for good again. Maybe there's something to it there.

Using PocketMac is a must.
After launching PocketMac it must be configured to use USB via the preference window. Also set up any other prefs at this time.
Now plug in the BB and you should be set to go.

PS PocketMac may not open like other programs. Look for an icon up at the top of the screen near the time & date.

Which version of Pocketmac are you all using to connect with the 7130c? I'm working with a PB G4. I checked the site and there is no listing for the 7130c.
