I've read the reviews and bought a bunch of cases & holsters. The seidio holster I bought is super well made but when I brushed against a pole, the 8700c popped out and hit the cement!

I have a noname leather generic case but it is too big an bulky. I tried a Prima lateral case but it has a quick release clip that is too easy to release. Just getting the thing on your belt or adjusting its position may cause you to release the case from the clip.

Presently, I am using the seidio skip and holster combination. Because the skin is sort of sticky, it is harder to get in and out of the holster so it seems more secure. It is a little cumbersome as the skin snags on the holster if you don't position it properly plus the skin makes typing a little bit more difficult.

I was looking at the Fortte horizontal case. Looks great but has 3 different clip options. The fixed clip is the flat spring which I don't care for and the two other clips are the plastic clips but again are removable.

I keep searching for a lateral leather case with a nice clip that is fixed to the case but am running out of ideas.

Any gems that I haven't found yet?

Yep seen the list. Haven't found the perfect case there, horizontal with non-removable clip (not the flat spring belt clip). Thanks though.

Fortte actually offers two fixed metal clips: the Fixed clip, and the Heavy Duty clip.

For lack of a better sollution, I ordered the regular fixed clip version today. The heavy duty one looks from the pictures to not be able to handle a wide belt.

My problem with fixed clips is that they can slide off. Also I have found that once the covering of the clip wears a bit, the metal clip comes through and becomes sharp. The spring clips hook around your belt and are hard to get off and there is no metal to cut yourself on.

Hopefully it will get here next week if they ship it out today.

From the reviews on here, it sounds like you made the right choice. the Fixed clip is more snug than the Heavy Duty and less likely to come off your belt unexpectedly. Or so they say.

I have four Fortte cases with the fixed clips, and I can tell you they are more secure than you may think. They will not slip off accidentally without some very forceful pushing from some object. I have bumped into many things with mine and have yet to even get close to having it come off. And none of mine have had any leather wearing off the clip yet. You should be very pleased.
