| BB Messenger - sucks? Please Login to Remove! Ok, I have an 8700 on Cingular, my friend has a 7130 on Verizon. Why is it that when we are messaging, the other person will randomly become "unavailable" - ALL THE TIME?!?!
We won't be moving, perfectly still - and it just randomly says the other person is unavailable, and then messages come through in batch, works for awhile, and then the other person goes unavailable again. Why is the connection breaking so much?
We are in downtown atlanta, full EDGE coverage!

| Yeah, I've noticed this happening a lot lately too. I don't remember it happening at all when BBM first came out, but almost every conversation I've had in the last few weeks this has happened. | | Offline

| I noticed this with my 8700g as soon as I switched.
With my 7290, it never happened.
It might be a OS 4.1 thing. | | Offline

| Could it be an inter-company problem, multiple companies conflicting?

| BB Messenger is not supported by Cingular for this reason. Sure, you can use it on Cingular, but not all of the kinks have been worked out yet. | | Offline

It appears that if the other person does not respond to your message in a reasonable amount of time, then it shows them unavailable. | | Offline

Works great for me... Also, I noticed You can still type a message to a person if they are unavailable. | | Offline

Thanks | Same problem here on TMO, I live up the street in Buckhead and it does the exact same. All of a sudden people are unavailable then I get 2-3 messeges.

Just seems strange when you see the "D" above the check mark, so you know they got the message, but the app still thinks they are offline. | | Offline

| BB Messenger is a RIM network application. It transcends all carriers. Kinda like a PIN message. I've seen this as well. | | Offline

| while this is a minor annoyance, it doesnt really effect the useability of the BBmessenger. Ive never experienced it but then again i always assumed its reporting availability correctly?

Based on that, it would be nice if the app didn't put the people that are unavailable in a different section. Just stick them all in one group and change the icon like they already do when they are unavailable. | | Offline

| I believe most of you are missing the problem...probably because most of you don't have this problem for some reason. Luckies!
We will be in full signal carrying on a conversation, and then all of a sudden messages are not being delivered to the other person (ok, sorry, they are "D"elivered, just not "R"eceived). Then, after a few minutes all of the messages will finally come through at once. The problem is because we get mad at each other because we think the other person is ignoring the question/joke/whatever. =)
During this period, it also shows the other person as unavailable - just randomly.
We have sat beside each other in the same room to test this - it definitely has some sort of hang up that randomly happens for 1-5 minutes in length.
Ugh.
