Default Disabling security on 7100T

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings,

I'm just tired of entering the password to make a phone call, so I went to the security option which states
Password: Enabled
but I can't disable it. The menu for the option is:
Change password
Wire handheld
Verify sec software
-
Save
-
Close
I checked the manual and it says that I just need to disable the password. I wonder if there's anything wrong with it (or with me)

The software version is 4.0.2.32 (plataform 1.8.0.137)

Thanks a lot

You don't see an option at the top to "Change option"?

If not, then you're likely on (or your device was previously on) a BES where a security policy is in place restricting your ability to disable password protection.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any chance of overriding the system policy, update the firm ware of something like that?

Thanks a million.

Unfortunately updating the fireware doesn't impact the policy.

Seach "remove it policy" on the forums and there is a thread somewhere with details...

Is your Blackberry connected to your employer's BES? If so, then I do not recommend attempting to circumvent the policy.

If you purchased the device with an IT policy, but currently don't use BES, try http://blackberry.awardspace.com

Exclamation Check This out

First...thx for the help. I got my 7130 fixed by using this thread. Let me tell you what happen. I used my personal BB at work. I only used the USB to sync my calendar and address book, nothing else. I also forwarded emails through features in outlook. Everything worked fine until...my job decides to give me a BB 6710 and hook it up through our BES. As it was being configured, I had my 7130 in my pocket and holding the 6710. They sent what I believe a OTA security policy to the 6710. The 6710 started working at that point and I set up the password. A couple hours later I pulled out my own BB and behold there was a security policy intact and the same password on file. WOW. Until I found this thread, a month later, I was stuck. I couldn't even use my bluetooth headset since it is against policy. I am not sure if this is normal or if it is even what happened. I never hooked up the 7130 using the USB to the computer after I got the 6710 so it couldn't have come that way. Well thanks again for the help.
