| 8700g (TMobile) Amazon plan(s) question.. Please Login to Remove! Ok.. I am about to buy the 8700g from Amazon for $124 outta pocket.. and with the rebate free with a two year contract.. Questions:
1. Would you all do that deal or should I wait for a one year term contract deal?
2. Amazon offers two plans.. and they are not very clear on what the plan offers. I want to tether my laptop off the Blackberry and do unlimited email (on the Blackberry).. will the lower $59.00 per month allow me to do that?
Thanks! | Offline

| well personally i wouldnt go with T-Mo at all....
Poor coverage and SLOW data speeds....
If it were a phone and coverage wasnt an issue than the lower T-Mo rates make sense. But thi is a DATA device. Cingulars EDGE and soon to be UMTS data kicks ass!

| I have used both the 8700c and the 8700g. EDGE on both networks perform the same down here. I switched over to TMo about 6 months ago, no problems. UMTS data does kick ass but until UMTS is offered in more markets, EDGE will have to do. | Offline

| i just switched from cingular to tmobile and ive never been happier...
cingular woundnt do a thing for me (equipment upgrade etc)...i was
w/ them since i got my cell (more than 10yrs)...every time i did something
w/ them it was a nightmare, double billed on 3 diff. ocassions and i never
got 'em straightened out (just wore me down after months and i just passed
it on to my company)
my service is better, my coverage is better & my bill is 30bucks LESS
for the same services ! | Offline

| I got the 8700g from amazon - I chose the unlimited bb and 1000 minutes plan for $59.99 and have been extremely happy. heres why:
Unlimited email, web browsing, and somehow, I got unlimited text messages too included in my plan. dont ask me how, but I did. You also get 1000minutes but no nights and weekends. if you dont need the 1000min, wait till you get your rebate and then either cut the minutes or bring them down.
I live near DC and I get really great coverage nearly everywhere I go and have been really happy with their service.
I actually had gotten the 8700g from amazon when it was $199 with 199 in rebates but two weeks later they bumped it down to $124 and they pricematched it for (essentially returning $75) to me.
However, the one downside I have heard is that amazon.com has problems with porting in numbers. I would look into that before you commit if you are porting in a number to t-mo. Your best bet is to go to the contact us section of amazon and theres a feature where you can have THEM call you. I think its much better than waiting for an email to get back.
my two cents.

| I had called t-mo about this, and they said yes. As long as you have the unlimited data plan you're ok.
Hope that helps.

my two cents. | It should be noted that Amazon now requires you to stay with your plan for 180 days to qualify for their rebate. | Offline

Yeah, it does include unlimited data.
| Can I use the "unlimited data" service with the other phone (e.g. Treo) by just placing my T-Mobile SIM card into that phone? | Offline

I think they would be able to give you a definitive answer....anybody else can answer this guys question?

| I got the 8700g from amazon - I chose the unlimited bb and 1000 minutes plan for $59.99 and have been extremely happy. Its fast, reliable service everywhere in LA and compared to Sprint, it is saving me a lot of money. T-Mobile's customer service far exceeds Sprint and for $60/mo with unlinited data you cannot beat the price. I got my 8700g from Amazon for free and have been using it for about 2 months...love the phone, love the deal. | Offline

| And I thought I was lucky for getting unlimited text messaging....I guess its standard with this plan. Has anyone decreased their minutes and still been able to keep the unlimited text messaging?
Thanks in advance.
