Default magnet in flap of 7130c case- bad for credit cards?

Please Login to Remove!

hi- just got a 7130c- GREAT phone!

but the magnet that holds the flap to the case seems quite strong- i can hang the case from a metal lamp with it!

i am wondering if this might be a little much to have next to my wallet, hard drive, etc.

It's definitely bad news for hotel keys. I've never had a problem with a credit card.

Mythbusters did an episode on that and they did everything they could to "erase" a credit card with all types of magnets but nothing they did could affect the credit card.

I learned that the hard way. I couldn't get in the hotel's rear, exterior door and had to walk around to the front door.

wow

seems a little crazy to have that strong a magnet in something that goes in your pocket near other sensitive things...

i actually was able to pick up the case with the phone in it using my keyring- with the flap magnet attached to a housekey

When I take my 8700g out of my leather case, the phone turns on when it leaves the magnet in the case, then turns off when it sees the magnet in the flap, and then turns on again when it leaves the magnet in the flap. That's a little annoying.
