Default 7100r I hear everybody, but nobody can hear me

Strange problem.. friend gave me a blackberry 7100r, went to connect it with rogers, tried calling somebody but I can't talk. I can hear them perfectly, but when I try talking they don't hear anything and usually hang up the phone. What is going on? I am new at all this so I need help.

could it be that my speakers are out or something of technical nature, rather than some weird option on the blackberry (on/off type thing)?

Sorry if you've tried this already.......

Any chance you have the 'MUTE' selected? While on a call, click the flywheel and scroll down and select "MUTE". Then retry.

If this isn't it, it sounds like a hardware problem, but hopefully somebody with more exp. will post you. Also, maybe your friend is messing with you !! Did he/she ever use it and have any probs?

My 7100t has the same issue, and in my case it's the mic. Sometimes if I bang the phone on a hard surface it works again, but it's progressively getting worse and worse. As a workaround until I get a new phone, I use a bluetooth headset. If you can, try using an earbud or BT headset and see if that works.

I used to have a 7100r with Rogers. I could hear people fine but I was told that I sounded like craps (sort of the broken McDonalds drive thru speaker thing if you know what I mean?).
I since purchased an 8700r and called Rogers to complain (my 7100r was still under warranty) and they wound up sending me a new 7100g. Even though your friend gave it to you, perhaps if it is still under warranty you can get Rogers to replace it? If not, I've got a 7100g for sale.

Turn the volume down or use the headset can solved this problems. 'cause the micro of blackberry very bad. Use it in quiet room, everything ok, but in noisy outdoor, it bad :-d

I had the same problem on my 7100i within 2 days of getting it. Had to swap it for another, as apparently the mic was bad.
