A co-worker gave me her 7100g. She originally got it from AT&T. I'm a Cingular customer, and would like use this device with my account. My company has a BES. My thinking was that I would get a second line (i.e. a second SIM with a different number on the same account) for my BB. Could someone step me through what I need to do to make this happen? Her device is currently locked with her password (which she has forgotten). I've found a service (cgi.ebay.com/Blackberry-7100-7290-7280-7100g-7100r-Unlock-Unlocking_W0QQitemZ320006454808QQihZ011QQcategoryZ 15036QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem") that will apparently un-SIM lock the phone.

The UNIT itself is locked or the unit is locked to ATT?

I'm assuming that the unit is both SIM locked and service locked to AT&T. I can't access it at all right now, as it is password locked, and the previous owner can't remember her password.

I am pretty trigger happy, but I would erase it using the JL_Cmdr (search for it on this forum). That will solve the BB password.

To get the Unlock code from ATT, the person who gave the unit to you will have to call and give their account number or SS# and then the unlock code will be mailed to her.

Tried JL_Cmdr, but the device wanted a password to access it for a wipe...

AT&T (and they don't exist) does not give out unlock codes. Never did. Never will. You will have to pay to have it unlocked. Contact GSMPhoneSource (I've used them) or another commercial unlocker.

mabuhr - enter the password incorrectly 10 times (follow the prompts and type the word Blackberry when prompted) and it should erase all customer data and let you in.

ok - I've got the device unlocked and erased.... Now what?
