Default Nextel 7100i on Telus

Hi All,

I received a nextel 7100i and when I put my telus sim card in i can make and recieve calls no problem. Does that mean it is already unlocked? When I goto options --> advanced --> sim card and type in 'meppd' i get the 5 extra options and they all say 'unknown'... is it supposed to say that? Thanks.

Unlocking is for GSM based phones/BBs only. No use on an iDen device.

why is unlocking iden useless?

You don't need to unlock it. You need to convince Telus to allow you to use a "foreign" device on their network. From other threads, that is not easy.

Telus will NOT allow foreign PIN, ESN or IMEI's on their network, end of story. Try as hard as you may your SOL. Sell it and buy a Telus BB and save yourself the trouble.
