Opening a 7100i

What type of screwdriver do you need to open the BB 7100i and clean the inside of the screen? I have swapped out my BB because there seems to be a smudge or a peice of dust under the display. I can't tell what it is. at first I thought it was a pixel out but it's on the screen. It doesn't look like a scratch either. I don't feel like taking it back again and saying there's something wrong with the one I just swapped out for today. The Nextel store I bought it at couldn't even see it but I could. Don't think they will be much help if I request another new one.

DO NOT OPEN IT!!!

If you open it you will void the manufacture warranty, and RIMM will not replace it for you if you open it up. Take it back to the store as many times as it takes to make you happy. But once again DO NOT OPEN IT!

In case you have money to burn, it takes a torx (what size I don't know) and I believe it takes some other specialized tools that I don't think even Nextel repair centers have. Any and all BB's that go to Nextel for repair get sent to RIMM for repair and replacement.

I guess I'll try to swap it but I think they going to give me trouble. Is this normal for the 7100i? This is the 2nd one that has had some small tiny thng on the screen. THe first one had 2 of them.

There is a program out there to fix the screen. I think its suppose to do something with the pixels. Check that out before you take it back.

Have any idea of the name? I'm not 100% sure it's the pixel though. If I tilt the phonw it looks like it's on the plasic screen not th pixel.

It probably is the screen as far as the lense. The pixel fix was for the PSP not the BB.....my bad.

Have to agree w/ korrupt, dont open up the BB. Take it back under warranty or coverage to Nextel.

If you must, you do not need to take the entire device apart to clean the screen. The BB outer screen is only held on with double-sided tape along with two tabs at the bottom. The 7100i scratches very easilly, so be careful if you try this.
